Many folks when reaching out to someone totally unrelated might use the label of “brother” or “sister.” Well, there is a reason for that.
No, this isn’t where I explain evolutionary theory or religious doctrine.
MLK, Jr., said: “We must learn to live together as brothers or perish together as fools.” I don’t claim to have the official interpretation, but for me, well, I find it somewhat obvious. There is power in unity, regardless of differences. There is power in numbers. After all, isn’t that what armies for thousands of years have been saying? Our current disillusioned culture has so en-trained us to believe that we are separate individuals, and our cultural, religious, political, and entertainment systems promote cliques, followings, and ultimately what boils down to as division. And this is by design, too. How does the song go . . . “United we stand, divided we fall . . .”? This serves a purpose, a very sinister purpose, but it doesn’t have to be this way.
So, the only way we will make it out of this mess, fix anything, communicate for the benefit of all, and truly understand ourselves is to live together as brothers and sisters. Whether you watch TV or not, I’m sure that you are capable of realizing that the contrary isn’t working too well for us…
